Ubee Interactive, a global leader in broadband access solutions, successfully completed its participation in the recent XGS-PON Interop·Labs event hosted by CableLabs. The event, held in Louisville, Colorado, focused on stress-testing the newly released Cable OpenOMCI I03 specification to ensure seamless interoperability across a diverse ecosystem of optical line terminals (OLTs) and optical network units (ONUs).

Setting the Standard for 10G Connectivity

As the industry moves toward widespread 10G deployments, the need for a unified management language is paramount. Ubee Interactive joined a select group of industry leaders to validate complex service configurations and monitoring scenarios.

The Interop·Labs provided a rigorous environment to exercise the ONU Management and Control Interface (OMCI), defined through ITU-T Recommendation G.988. Ubee’s engineering team demonstrated the robustness of our XGS-PON residential gateways and ONUs, ensuring high performance even in complex multi-vendor pairings.

Key Technical Milestones Achieved

During the intensive testing sessions, Ubee validated several critical capabilities introduced in the I03 specification, including:

• Time Configuration Management: Verification of ONU Time-Offset and local time synchronization.
• Extended Message Support: Validation of OMCI Extended Message sets for more efficient MIB upload operations and firmware downloads.
• Advanced Traffic Handling: Execution of interoperability test cases for upstream traffic using DSCP-to-P-bit mapping across specific GEM flows.
